What is whole body cryotherapy?

Whole body cryotherapy is a two- to four-minute session in ultra-cold air (-130 to -185 degrees Fahrenheit). The brief, controlled cold exposure triggers vasoconstriction, pulling blood to your core where it becomes enriched with oxygen and anti-inflammatory proteins.

When you step out, that enriched blood floods back through your system. The result is a whole-body flush that reduces inflammation and pain, boosts circulation and recovery, and activates your nervous system, leaving most people feeling energized and clear-headed.

Cryotherapy is benefical for:

  • R

Reduced Inflammation: Decreases pro-inflammatory markers and supports your body's natural healing response.

  • R

Faster Recovery: Reduces muscle soreness (DOMS) and speeds recovery between workouts or after physical strain.

  • R

Pain Management: Modulates pain signaling pathways — studied for chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and joint conditions.

  • R

Better Sleep: Activates your parasympathetic nervous system, helping your body shift into a deeper recovery state.

  • R

Mood and Mental Clarity: Cold exposure increases norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter tied to focus and emotional resilience.

  • R

Metabolic Support: Stimulates brown adipose tissue (BAT), which burns calories to generate heat.

Who is cryotherapy for?

Cryotherapy is great for active individuals looking to recover faster, or anyone managing joint pain, stiffness, or chronic inflammation.
Anyone seeking a natural boost in focus and energy, and people looking to improve sleep quality and stress response, often respond well to cryotherapy.

What should I wear for my cryotherapy session?

  • Dry, comfortable undergarments — cotton underwear and a sports bra (or shorts and a sports top) work well
  • Bring or wear: socks (we provide thick thermal socks if you don’t have your own)
  • We’ll provide everything else you need: gloves, slippers, ear coverings, and a face mask
  • Remove all jewelry, watches, and metal accessories before entering the chamber — cold metal can stick to skin
  • Skin and hair must be completely dry — no lotions, oils, or wet products on the skin or hair right before your session
  • Private changing rooms are available on-site

What should I expect?

Your first visit includes a quick health screening and walkthrough; plan for about 15 minutes total. After changing, you’ll step into the Polaris chamber with your head exposed above the opening. The session itself is 2 to 3.5 minutes — we start newcomers shorter and build up over time. A trained technician stays with you the entire session, monitoring how you feel. The cold is dry and tolerable — most clients describe it as bracing but not painful.

Afterward, expect a rush of warmth, an energy and mood boost, and a tingling sensation as circulation returns to the surface, all completely normal. You can drive, work out, or return to your day immediately

How often should I go?

Recovery & athletic performance: 2–3 sessions per week

Pain & chronic inflammation: 3–5 sessions per week to start, then taper to a maintenance rhythm

General wellness, mood & energy: 1–2 sessions per week

Maximum benefit: Consistency over 4–6 weeks — effects compound with regular use

Members on the Optimize plan can come daily. If you do multiple sessions in one day, space them at least a few hours apart

If a client is new to cryo, our staff will help build a cadence based on their goals during the first visit.

Why do you use the Polaris Cryo Chamber?

We use the Polaris Cryo Chamber built by Cryobuilt — an electric, walk-in chamber that delivers true whole body cold exposure, including your head and neck. Unlike older nitrogen-based units that only cool from the neck down, the Polaris provides even, consistent temperatures with no nitrogen gas exposure.
