What is a DEXA Scan?

DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) uses two low-dose X-ray beams to give you a precise, region-by-region breakdown of your bone density, lean muscle mass, and body fat. The scan takes about 10 to 15 minutes, is completely non-invasive, and delivers data you can actually act on.

Your scale only tells you one number. Two people at the same weight can have completely different health profiles. DEXA shows you what is actually happening beneath the surface — so you can stop guessing and start making decisions based on real data.

What should I expect?

Wear comfortable, metal-free clothing. You’ll lie on an open table for about 10 to 15 minutes while the scanner passes over you. Right after your scan, you’ll review your results with a team member.

The radiation exposure is comparable to one to two days of natural background radiation.

I had a hormone panel done and the extensive explanation that the nurse practitioner, Grace went through with me was phenomenal!! She did not make me feel like I was wrong or incorrect when I displayed my symptoms as my MD has, she told me how to fix them! My skin and incisions look so good and the sessions just made me feel great!! I could feel the difference just missing 1 day on Sundays when they're closed. And the women at North Frisco are so amazing! Everyone I met is so friendly, helpful and kind! Love them all!!! I drove all the way from Dallas bc they're prices were the best I found and you can sit up in a recliner instead of laying down in a tube. They provide the full ATA pressure for theraputic wound healing. I was very ill and did not want to sit in an ER for hours under bright lights just to get fluids and be charged thousands (even after insurance).  My husband made a call and they were able to get me in immediately.  Upon arrival they took me right back to the room, gave me great recommendations, and began treatment.
